FCS have now six straight league wins with six games left to be played. Can they continue their form throughout the spring as well?

SEASON PREVIEW 2011/12: //
[2011-10-07 18:32:34]

FC Scandinavia chairman: Our goal is to win it all - again

In the 2010/11 season FC Scandinavia did what Barcelona did in 2008/09: They won every title and every cup they fought for. So the level of pressure is high on the Sky Blues before the season opener against La Vallette on Sunday. Official team text provider All-In Translations took a look at the squad status before kick off.

Text by All-In Translations

Three cup titles, one league title and 242 days without a defeat; those were the numbers FC Scandinavia could look back on when last season was summarized. Club chairman Johan Nyberg is however not afraid to expect another season of glory alongside his fellow Malta-based Scandinavian expatriates.

- It is obviously difficult to improve the results. But our goal is to win the GIDA league and all three cups again. No doubt! Johan said.

But is the 2011/12 FC Scandinavia squad strong enough to repeat the unspoiled success? Several key players have left the island and the season preparations has yet again been far from optimal.

- It will be very noticeable that we have lost players like Mattias Lönn, Kasper Poulsen, Nicolai Klausen and Camilo Braz, plus the two goalkeepers we had last season. But I hope and believe the additions to our squad will fill their places in a good way, Nyberg continued.

New squad additions include the two goalkeepers Carl Ahlvik and Daniel Peraux, midfielders Fredrik Lindberg and Roy Pedersen, and defender Ola Bondesson.

Ahlvik, Lindberg and Pedersen are all in the starting lineup for the season opener against La Vallette (former Avukati) on Sunday morning at 09:45 at Melita Grounds.

FC Scandinavia will probably have the following starting lineup: Carl Ahlvik; Johan Nyberg, Tomas Lindberg, Robin Larsson, Tobias Carlsson; Fredrik Lindberg, Per Hertz, Sebastian Delsinger, Roy Pedersen; Niklas Petterson, Lars Johansson.

Rasmus Hatting and David Barnwell are also included in the squad.

Malta-based text provider All-In Translations will continue to provide match reports and player ratings after each game, and they will even crown the All-In Translations Player of The Year based on the ratings from each match. So check back on Sunday afternoon for all details about the season opener!

FC SCANDINAVIA v TVFC 7-0 (ON AGGREGATE): //
[2011-04-19 12:02:31]

Swedish division 5 outfit Tvärred/Vegby FC visited Malta last weekend for a pre-season training camp ahead of their new season. Thanks to good PR and communications skills by FC Scandinavia club president Johan Nyberg, Tvärred/Vegby FC arranged for two friendlies against the dominating Scandinavian side in Malta, who had just secured their second consecutive GIDA league title.

The first game was played on Saturday the 16th of April and FC Scandinavia came well prepared with no less than 20 players in the squad. Ironically enough, that number would set the tone for the whole game as the Skyblues beat TVFC by two goals to nil.

The second game was played on Monday evening. It looked like the Tvärred players had a tough weekend with a 90 minutes game and a couple of training sessions in their legs, plus maybe too much sun and perhaps a beer or two? The Maltese Scandinavians were, however, fired up and opened the scoring already in the 10th minute. FCS, who might be a bit more match trained and used to the sun at the moment, won the match 5-0 after full time. The Swedish side left the island empty-handed, but we hope they enjoyed a great pre-season camp and we wish them very best of luck for the rest of the season.

PREVIEW: AVUKATI v FCS //

FC Scandinavia are just one win away from securing the GIDA League title for the second time running. In their way stands Avukati on Sunday morning, a side that have not managed to defeat the Scandinavians in four efforts.

Top scorer Lars Johansson scored four goals(!) against the lawyers earlier this year in a blistering 7-0 win. Johansson is only two goals away from netting his 20th goal of the season - can he reach that target on Sunday and help his side to win the championship?

Squad:
Kamil Mastej; Johan Nyberg, Rasmus Hatting, Tobias Carlsson, Tomas Lindberg, Tommy Fällman; Anders Mørup Kristensen, John-Inge Olsen, Mattias Lönn, Per Hertz, Sebastian Delsinger; David Barnwell, Lars Johansson, Nicolai Klausen, Niklas Pettersson

The Super Cup Final against Young Boys was called off last Sunday. The referees had not been informed about the game and could not come on such a short notice. A new date is yet to be decided.

A friendly match was, however, arranged between the two final teams. Young Boys took the lead before Jean-Amin Le Mrini equalized late in the first half. The Scandinavians then went 3-1 up in the second half but Young Boys came back strongly and managed to level the game to 3-3 before the two teams agreed to quit the match.
